I am fascinated with the human face. The shapes and subtle colors, lines and subtle details that make each of us unique. I find in nature the same awe. It may be a pile of rocks, a rusted out old truck, or a favorite river. When I paint human faces I want to capture the glimpse that makes them special. The glance their loved ones will remember them by. I feel a sense of ease at capturing the expressions of my subjects. I think that people play a most important role in the beauty of this world, so I try to paint some of it and let others see it from my perspective. I would like to share this gift with others. I don’t believe it’s mine to keep. |
